Gary Cecil Hill

November 25, 1942 - October 17, 2021

Gary Cecil Hill Gary went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 17, 2021 following a long illness. Born to Grady and Jewel Hill on November 25, 1942 in Houston, Texas, he is survived by his wife of 39 years, Glenda; brother-in-laws, Vance Roth and his wife, Carol and Brian Roth and his wife, Alice; many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Dayle Hill, Vernon Helbert and Hugh Helbert. He attended Sam Houston High School then went to serve in the United States Air Force. In 1982 he married Glenda Roth and they bought land on which to build their retirement home in Crystal Beach, Texas. When his wife retired in 1991, they moved from Houston to Crystal Beach. Gary was a union truck driver for Chemical Leaman Tank Lines, hauling dangerous chemicals all over the country for 31 years. He retired in 2001 and began enjoying his passion-FISHING!!- both offshore and in Galveston Bay. Gary was an active member of Eagles Lodge #3719 and the Winnie-Stowell Masonic Lodge #1377, also the Scottish Rites of Freemasons and the Shriners, both of Galveston. He found extra time to drive the church bus for Bay Vue UMC and helped organize the Jesse Tree Food Bank for the Bolivar Peninsula. The aftermath of Hurricane IKE drove him to North Texas where he and his wife have resided for the past 11 years. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to Lakeway UMC, P.O. Box 240, Pottsboro, TX 75076. Memorial services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Lakeway United Methodist Church in Pottsboro with Dr. Frank Alegria officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home. Condolences may be registered to: www.johnsonmoorefuneralhome.net.
