Madge Watson Maddox

January 6, 1921 - July 24, 2018

DENISON Madge Watson Maddox, 97, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Grayson Place in Denison, TX. She was born January 6, 1921 in San Saba, TX to Willis Ward and Altha Belle (Hartley) Watson. She graduated from San Saba High School and graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor’s degree in music and a Master’s degree in education. She married Clifford Leonard Maddox April 29, 1944 in Austin, TX. Madge taught from 1962-1970 at Golden Rule Elementary and then taught choral music at McDaniel Junior High School in Denison. She volunteered with the Texoma Hospital Auxiliary for many years and was a member of United Methodist Women, as well as a member of Waples Memorial United Methodist Church. Services will be Friday, July 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Waples Memorial United Methodist Church sanctuary. Dr. Cheryl Murphy will officiate. Madge is survived by her nieces and nephews, Lee Lassus, Dorylee Plexco, Wally Watson, Dick Watson, Mike Watson, Willis Watson and Laura Jo Butts. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers; one sister, Zola Ward Trail, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family requests that memorials be made to Waples Memorial United Methodist Church, 830 W. Main Street, Denison, TX 75020 or the donor’s favorite charity. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home. Condolences may be registered to www.johnsonmoorefuneralhome.net.
