Dave Luymes

October 28, 1945 - April 26, 2014

Dave Luymes | Pottsboro
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held for Dave Luymes, 68, of Pottsboro at 4:00 pm on Friday, May 16, 2014 at Legacy Bible Church in Denison, TX. Dave lost a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Presbyterian Hospital Dallas.
He was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on October 28, 1945, the son of M.H. Luke and Ruth Ann Van Oort Luymes. He graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls, SD and attended National College of Chiropractic in Chicago, IL.
Life in the fast lane of sales and marketing in Chicago beckoned Dave early on, and he answered the call. He enjoyed a highly successful career in advertising sales and publishing for many years. Warm, sunny Texas weather enticed Dave to head south where he continued his career in advertising sales, did a little head-hunting, then worked his way into custom-build construction – his hobby and passion.
He and Sylvia Garcia became best friends 25 years ago. They married in 1992 on a boat floating along the San Antonio Riverwalk. They had many “children” together – all of the four-legged persuasion. Dave lived, loved and breathed Pottsboro – particularly his acreage on Scott Hill Road in the Locust Community. He was always mowing, raking, trimming trees and playing in the dirt – with all of the necessary “boy toys.”
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Garcia-Luymes of the home; son, Andrew David Robinson of Los Angeles, California; daughter, Jeannine Marie Robinson of Las Vegas, Nevada and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, M.H. Luke Luymes and Ruth Ann Luymes; sister, Marinelle Bryson; brother, Donald Luymes. Beloved four-legged furry children waiting for him at the Rainbow Bridge include Buster, A.D., Simba, Missie, Cocoa, Coonie, Cowie, Pepper, Little Man, Cowboy and Little Bitty.
Memorials are suggested to Locust Community Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 1888, Pottsboro, TX 75076-1888, or the Legacy Bible Church Building Fund, 818 FM 691, Denison TX, 75020.
Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel.
